OFFENSE - D: Pederson continues to show some commitment to the run game! The Eagles ground attack netted them 180 yards! More impressive is the fact that Miles Sanders rushed for 95 yards on 18 carries, most of those yards where gained on shifty moves and second effort. I said it before and I'll say it again,THE OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS!! Yes we had success running the ball, but not because our O-line can knock people off the line of scrimmage. Luckily, Wentz had some great scrambles for yardage, and Sanders simply made it happen. The O-line has ZERO physicality! We even tried adding tight ends and still couldn't move the line of scrimmage. I also do not think there is very good chemistry between Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz. Matter of fact I'll go as far as to say that I don't think Carson Wentz has great chemistry with anyone on the Eagles but he is still gives the best chance of winning.
Let's discuss the passing game. I'll start of by saying Wentz was bad, but I can't put it ALL on him. The wide outs were horrible, they simply couldn't win one on one match-ups and get open. This lead to a complete breakdown on passing plays. I don't know what Press Taylor is going to do (Eagles pass coordinator) to fix this, but the passing game will not improve until we get better play out of this group.
DEFENSE - D minus: Our linebackers really, really, really, really STINK!!! Nathan Gerry always seems to be either out of position, or he's a day late and a dollar short! Is there ANYONE on the Eagles roster that can play better than Gerry? Also, how in the hell do the Bengals convert on a 3rd & 15 when we are playing prevent?!?!? We still can't stop the run which means we have to stack to box leaving our corners exposed. This ENTIRE group has to get better.
SPECIAL TEAMS - D minus: Special teams played really well on weeks one and two but that is not the case today. For the most part, punt and kick off coverage was good. However, an off sides penalty to push out out of field goal range is just unforgivable.
OVERALL - F minus: Bottom line is once again, this team (on both sides of the ball) was not prepared to play football!! The Bengals converted 10 out of 13 third downs including that back breaking 3rd & 15 while playing prevent and field goal team committed a back breaking penalty. Offensively, the team was just plan terrible. It's actually hard to blame the lack of production on play calling because the wide outs couldn't get open! Then add the fact that the O-line missed a metric ass ton of blocking assignments, it leads me to believe it was more of an execution issue which points back to a lack of preparation. At the end of the day, ultimate responsibility for the performance of a team belongs to the head coach. It believe Pederson is safe for the remainder of this season, but if the Eagles have a bad season next year I believe we will see a change.
